Here at HobbyTron.com We’re always interested in new and unique items, so we were very excited when Parkflyers came out with the first ever 4 CH Dual Purpose RTF Hybrid Air RC Airplane. What makes the Hybrid Air so unique is that it can take off from water or land and that it comes ready to run right out of the box. It comes with a Li-Poly battery that gives you an unbelievable flight time of 18 minutes and a brushless Outrunner motor that gives you plenty of speed and performance. HobbyTron Donates Toys to Orphanage in Mexico

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Most of us here at HobbyTron.com are kids at heart and when we get a chance to spread a bit of fun we jump at the opportunity. We’ve been involved with an orphanage in Mexico and have been able to bring a few smiles to their faces with some of our neat stuff. We recently sent them RC cars, RC trucks and some dolls so the girls didn’t feel left out :) and in return they gave us some photos of the little ones and their new toys.
You can see some of the pictures below (click on the links for larger images):

We’re always on the lookout for ways we can lend a hand.

Little Price, BIG performance!!!

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Kind of interesting how we just received our largest SuperScale RC Cars recently, and today received the Smallest performance RC Car we’ve ever had :) When we say that we mean that there are smaller cars out there, but normally RC cars this size are more toys than racers. The mini rush electric RC truggy was burning up the road in our parking lot near our office. We’ve included a video you can watch below.

We had a tough time putting this little guy down. The battery seems to last forever on a single charge which is awesome. Again, you can check it out here on its own page.

SuperScale RC + Longboard = ?

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

We had some fun today in the parking lot with the new SuperScale RC buggy. Since we’ve never had an RC car this powerful or large for that matter, we decided to take our resident longboard pro and see what would happen. We ended up pulling him all over the parking lot and may have invented a new type of public transportation ;) You can check out the video below, and as always can check out the specs on the Mutilator SuperScale buggy on the main site.

SuperScale Cars on I4U

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Looks like the gadget guys at I4U have picked up on how cool our new SuperScale RC Cars are and have written an article about them which you can find on the I4U News Page. They talk abou the advantages of using the Futaba FM transmitter and about how you end up saving big bucks by using regular unleaded fuel instead of expensive Nitro based fuel. We look forward to more reviews on our SuperScale RC Cars as more people begin to hear about them. As always, you can check out the SuperScale Ford GT and the SuperScale Mutilator on our site.

Attack of the Hornet!

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

After months of research and development, we received our first factory direct shipment of the new Hornet 3 Mini RC Helicopters. We put alot of thought into the design and we think we came up with a real winner. We wanted longer fly times, hobby-grade quality, better trim control and a more responsive throttle. So we did it. The Hornet 3 has a 15 step digitally proportional control, precision trim dial that doesn’t reset when you power down the heli like most others a big Li-Poly battery that gives 7-9 minutes of flight and a way cool design :) Check out the video we made yesterday about the Hornet 3, and check out the images we have on the Hornet 3 Mini RC Helicopter page.

New Mini Hughes 300 Fairy Helicopter is here!

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

This has been a good week for HobbyTron.com for new cool stuff. Along with our awesome new SuperScale RC Cars, we also received a sizeable shipment of these new little Hughes 300 mini helis. The design is quite different than other mini helicopters in its class. The new mini Hughes uses sturdy plastic construction instead of the EPP foam many helis are being constructed from these days. What we like about the hughes is detail. It has an open cockpit with clear plastic windows so you can see in, and it’s at least an inch shorter than any other mini heli we’ve seen and still retains the detail. Check the Mini Hughes 300 Helicopter page for more some images that show the scaling and details.

We’ve also put up a funny video of our first flight here in our office on Youtube for people to watch. It already had a full charge coming out of the factory so we just needed to flip the switch and we were flying in minutes. Check it out:

The SuperScale Mutilator RC Buggy

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Along with the SuperScale Ford GT, the Mutilator was also in our shipment of new cool stuff. The Ford’s wide wheelbase made it very stable around the corners and the Mutilator with its beefier tires seemed to grip the road well. It was really fun to tear around the empty parking lot behind our office at 40 mph. I wish we would have had some more space in the lot to get the thing up to full speed, there just wasn’t enough room to accelerate and brake. We plan on making quite a few more fun videos of the mutilator and Ford GT soon.

The SuperScale Mutilator Buggy Video can be found here:

The 2-Stroke SuperScale Ford GT RC car

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

After a long wait, we received our first shipment of our SuperScale RC Cars and Off-road buggies yesterday. Not only do they look amazing, they were so easy to set-up and drive we were blown away. We literally charged the receiver battery for 15 mins, mixed 2-cycle engine oil with normal unleaded gas, pulled the starter cable 9 times and it was off to the races. We didn’t get a chance to use our speed gun on the Ford GT, but we did use it on the off-road mutilator buggy and if we had a larger parking lot, we probably would have been able to open it up past 3/4 throttle.

Check out our first impression videos of the SuperScale Ford GT here:

What blew us away the most was the fuel economy on these cars. We ran them at 3/4 throttle for about an hour each and barely made a dent in the fuel tank. All things considered, with no break in period and a cost of about $0.75 an hour, they’re awesome cars to drive. Stay tuned for more videos soon.
