The New Super Light Mini Helicopter…The Raven

Friday, October 26th, 2007

I would have to say that the Raven is probably my favorite mini RC helicopter that we have here at HobbyTron.com. First I pulled it out of the box and it came with everything that I needed to get it up in the air. I didn’t even need my own batteries because it comes with a 9v battery which is all you need. After I got everything out of the box, I plugged the included wall charger right into the side of the Raven. A good rule of thumb to follow is to always double charge the battery the first time out, so that is what I did. It took just under 20 minutes for both charges. Of course with anything that flies, I needed to trim it out first. I put the mini helicopter on the smooth floor and throttled it up just enough to get it spinning. I kept the helicopter on the ground as I trimmed it out until it was not spinning. That didn’t take too long and I was off flying.

The Raven Mini RC Helicopter

I was very impressed at the control I had over this mini helicopter. I like the stability and the ease at which it flies right out of the box. I was able to fly for around 7 minutes before it became sluggish and needed a recharge. By this time my friend had arrived so I got another one set up and going. We could have flown three at a time, but there were only two of us, and that would have been pretty hard. After we both got our mini RC helicopters flying we decided to have an airborne dogfight. That was really fun, but when we noticed that in the box there were nose weights, the fun really began. We affixed the nose grips to the Raven which put it into attack mode. In attack mode it flies forward much more and we were able to knock each other’s helicopters out of the air. We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to the weekend where we will have more time to fly these fun mini RC helicopters again.

For the Pie Judging Contest we gave away a $100 HobbyTron.com gift certificate to the first place winner and a Palm Z and Raven, which are a mini RC airplane and mini RC helicopter respectively, to the second and third place winners. HobbyTron.com gave away another $100 gift certificate to the winner of the Pie Eating Contest. All in all it was a very fun night, and it was great to have HobbyTron.com sponsor such a fun event.

Have You Ever Seen Anything Like It?? –The Silverlit Palm-Z from HobbyTron.com

Blue Palm Z
The new mini indoor airplane, the Silverlit Palm-Z, has made a big splash it’s first few months on the market. People are buying them up from everywhere they can. Because of the problems with China, only a few places even have the Palm-Z. Some places are already out of them or are not releasing them until later on in the season. They are scarce already, and if you think they will be around all season long, think again…

Why are the Silverlit Palm-Zs such a huge sensation? Let me tell you… The Palm-Z represents advances in technology unseen in other RC airplanes. First off it is small enough to hold in the palm of your hand and fly around your living room. The Palm-Z has digital proportional speed control. It is very durable being made of a tough polypropylene foam body which withstands most crashes. It is also very light. It weighs in at just under an amazingly light 10 grams! With its new Lithium Polymer (Li-Poly) battery technology you don’t have to recharge it nearly as frequently as older RC airplanes. Flight times typically run from 8 to 10 minutes with only a 15 minute charge. It also comes in three frequencies and colors thereby allowing users to fly up to three airplanes at one time. The colors are Green/Wave, Blue/Wind, and Orange/Fire.

Everyone who flies the Palm-Z will tell you that it is unlike any flying experience that they have ever had. Even people who aren’t RC buffs are flocking to this mini RC airplane because of how easy it is to use, its novelty appeal, and just how much fun it is to fly it. Anyone will be a professional-looking pilot in no time, whether old or young, male or female, with the Palm-Z.

Where can you find the Silverlit Palm-Z? HobbyTron.com has procured an especially large number of the Silverlit Palm-Z in preparation for the holiday season. They are confident we will have the Palm-Z in stock well after other places sell out. So what are you waiting for? Pick up a Silverlit Palm-Z from HobbyTron.com and start flying today!

HobbyTron.com on FOX 13’s Good Day Utah

Monday, August 20th, 2007

On Thursday, August 16, 2007 HobbyTron.com was highlighted on the FOX 13 News program Good Day Utah. We were up at the ModelPort just east of the Salt Lake City International Airport. The ModelPort is a place that people can go to fly their model airplanes and helicopters. We were accompanied by about 30 other hobby airplane enthusiasts.

All of the planes that they flew were ranging from a few hundred dollars, to $10,000 with the average around a thousand dollars or so.Most people who have had a fascination with flying aren’t able to jump in at that level so that is where we come in. HobbyTron.com is the affordable option for the beginning to intermediate hobby enthusiast. Our planes and helicopters begin at the $20 range and go up to the $200-$300 range. We talked about the many indoor options that we have for the home or office.

Some of the aircraft that we highlighted on the air were as follows: The Palm Z, The Rookie, and The Hughes Mini Helicopter. The Palm Z is the hottest new toy for the holiday season this year. It is an indoor plane that will fly for over 5 minutes. It is slow moving, nearly unbreakable, and has the ability to maneuver around the office or the crowded living room. The Rookie is a long time favorite for its superb stability and ability to fly in small tight places. It will fly outside, but remember as with all indoor aircraft, they will not fly as well outside, especially if there is any wind. As you could see on the video from the news show which we will be putting up as soon as we are sent our copy. The Hughes Mini Helicopter is always a favorite because it is so durable and you can fly up to three at a time (Just as you can with the Palm Z).

We also had three other planes on display that were a little higher end. They are as follows: The Cessna 182, The Hybrid Air, and The Daredevil. If you were watching the news, the Cessna was the airplane that was wrecked twice while on the air, and then it still flew!!! It is one of our most popular options as you can choose between a 3CH and 4CH option depending on your skill level. The Hybrid Air actually takes off from water, and the Daredevil is our stunt bi-plane. These are both 4CH planes and come in at a very modest price tag.

If you have any questions about our products please feel free to visit us. We will be posting pictures and video from the news event as soon as they are available.

Red Ferrari Enzo

I remember when I was a kid and all my friends and I had a dream to own a Ferrari. I was so excited when I was asked to try out this product. There have been lots of imitators out there, but this is the real deal. I ripped into the packaging and the first thing that I noticed is the intricate detail of this car. You can see the engine, the seats, and the dash in Hobby Grade detail. When you take this car out for a spin you won’t be disappointed. It handles really well. Turning is a breeze and the signal lights actually work when you turn. The headlights work as well which makes driving around at night just as fun as driving around in the day. Here is a little information about the car for those technical people out there. It comes in red or yellow. This car, the Ferrari Enzo RC  comes RTR (Ready to Run) with the AC charger and all batteries needed. It runs on a 27 MHz frequency. It is 11″ long and 5″ wide. Really only one thing makes a better gift for that special person you love, and that would be a real live one, but this version won’t set you back close to $643,330.00.

How does a great Helicopter get better?

Monday, July 16th, 2007

When the original BladeRunner came out it changed the RC Helicopter industry with its co-axial design making it easy to fly for all ages. Now they just made that great Helicopter even better with the BladeRunner 2. The BladeRunner 2 is more stable then before allowing exact hover control and the battery capacity was increased giving it an amazing 15 minutes of flight time. Also just to make it even more exciting they added a sweet search light that lets you fly this Heli at night time.

Good Year Blimpin’

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

The Air Rage Officially Licensed Good Year Blimp® 3CH 4′ 2″ Long RC Aircraft really is as fun as it looks. How man times have we all seen the Goodyear blimp, or seen it on TV and wondered what it was like to fly one? Now you can! All you need is a little helium for the mylar bubble and everything else takes care of itself.

blimp

We love the overall quality of the RC electric blimp. The control is excellent for how affordable it is. Again, all you need to get it going is a little helium and a desire to have some fun.

Best EP RC Boat Available.

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Here at HobbyTron were always looking for new toys that are going to be the hot new toy of the year, well the EP Boat is not new considering it was one of our first RC Boats but it is definitely one of the hottest Electric Radio Controlled Boats available. The EP Boat has been around for over 4 years now and continues to be our top selling boat. The reason its so popular is because for the price there is nothing that comes even close to the speed and quality of this boat. The EP Boat comes Ready to Run (RTR) right out of the box and goes 20 mph which may not seem fast but out on the water its super fast, not to mention that to get anywhere near that speed with other boats you have to spend over a $100. The EP Boat retails at HobbyTron.com for only $55.00 with Free Shipping.
