Friday, October 26th, 2007

HobbyTron.com, one of the Web’s leading sellers of Airsoft guns and accessories, today announced the opening of their new parts and repairs department.

“Based on the numerous requests from the Airsoft community we have opened a new parts and repair department. The focus of the new department is to better serve customers and non-customers alike by keeping their Airsoft guns in top operating condition for a reasonable price,” said Scott Miller, warehouse manager for HobbyTron.com. “We believe that we will be the industry leader in Airsoft and RC repairs. We are committed to giving the best quality of work and to ensuring that our customers are satisfied every time they use our service.”

They have parts for nearly every Airsoft gun and for almost every RC model. As of right now the Airsoft repair department is already operating and doing repairs with many satisfied customers already; while the RC department is looking to officially open at the turn of the New Year. Some of the parts that they offer for Airsoft guns are springs, metal gear sets, hop-up kits, bodies, and batteries, along with every other part that you will ever want or need. In addition to parts, they also offer a great selection of refurbished guns. These guns come with a 30 day warranty and some have never even been used.

“Our parts department specialists are extremely professional and dedicated to the repairing of Airsoft guns,” said Danny Haskell, parts and repairs department manager for HobbyTron.com. “We love the sport and know the importance of not only having a good Airsoft gun, but having one that works well.”

HobbyTron.com’s prices for repairs are very competitive and your gun is usually repaired within a week. They specialize in repairing mid to high range Airsoft guns, usually valued at $50 or more. The parts won’t be listed on the website until the beginning of 2008, so you will need to call the parts and repairs department at 1-800-494-1778 for more information.

No matter where you purchased your Airsoft gun from, for all your Airsoft repair, upgrade, modify, trick out, and strip down needs, HobbyTron.com is the place to send your gun.

PG Airsoft Battle with HobbyTron.com Airsoft Guns

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

The day started off not looking so good. It was raining it was cold and there were 50 to 60 Frisbee golfers playing in our field. The very day we chose to play at this new field it just happened to be their once a year event for Frisbee golf. But in the true spirit of the game we packed up and found a new place to play right up the road. Kiwanis Park ended up being the site where mud, men, rain, and BBs would clash!

PG Airsoft Battle 1

Even though it rained all day we had a really good turn out. At one time we had 25 players, a real BIG thanks to HobbyTron.com who donated some Airsoft Guns for our use and to everyone who came out and made this game a really good experience! Since this field was kind of new to most of the players we started out with what I thought to be a simple game of capture the flag. But it turned out to be one of our longest and one of the best games we played all day. After we talked about proper Airsoft safety, rules and game play we divided up into two teams went to our corners and came out fighting! We were all so excited we almost crushed a couple of civilians that were watching! We had to do a restart so we didn’t hit them but as soon as they cleared out we once again came running at each other. There were many close calls to capture the flag by both teams, but through a stroke of strategic genius the team I was on took 4 of our players and ran up the side of the mountain. We flanked the opposing teams base, over powering the guards, and we had one of our players slid down the slippery hill side, grab the flag, and run as fast as he could. The rest of us made a human wall providing cover as he made his escape, when he was behind us we tactically collapsed behind him to provide him with extra cover.

PG Airsoft Battle 2

The opposing team didn’t know what hit them! It was a sweet play! After that we went on to play a quick game of team slayer which means that once you’re hit you’re out! The rest of the games had re-spawn rules. It turned out to be a tie due to the fact everybody was hungry for lunch! Once again a BIG thanks to everyone who brought stuff to eat and cook the stuff to eat and Grill Master Ben. Good eats! As we were eating we were honored to have At Your Leisure, which is a local TV show come out and do some filming. He interviewed some of us, got our thoughts about Airsoft, and what we loved about the sport. After lunch he wanted to film our next few games! It was a real energy booster for all of us I think. We got a lot of great footage so when it comes out we will put up a link to it.

PG Airsoft Battle 3

After lunch we ran a VIP/Security Force/Body Guard game. How that works is we had one player designated to be the President and he got to pick his guards and then everybody else were assassins trying to kill him. The first poor victim was Kristofer Beldin the PR guy from Politis. He selected his team members but was sadly assassinated twice in a row! His team even tried to dress him up to look different but still couldn’t get to the “pick up point.” Next we designated Tim to be the President. He selected his body guards and once again tried to make it out. However he was also assassinated. I think I got taken out several times and didn’t even get up the hill. Good game though. After that we did some mock up stuff for the film crew. He had us do some tactical moves such as running, jumping, reloading, covering, and more running! It actually turned out to be more action in five minutes then we saw all day long. That was really fun!

After that we had a lot of players call it a day, but with those who were left we played one last game. Even Ben who fell off a rock and jacked his ankle up real good wanted to play once more. We decided to play Grenade! This is a game where a team has a bottle filled with rocks that they would have to throw at a target on the ground and be at least 10 feet from the target. I was put on the defending team and we spread out along a ridge line to fend off all attackers. The attacking team made some really good pushes but just could not get to the target. When the five minute bell rang they made one last assault. Chris from At Your Leisure had the Grenade and made his way up along the ridge and got into position. He chucked it as hard as he could and it flew toward the target, but right at the last moment a tree sprung up in his way! The look on his face was unforgettable we all hit the ground laughing cause he hit the only tree that was near the target! Better luck next time.

PG Airsoft Battle 4

We were out there from 10am till 5:30pm and with all that we did it made for one of the best game days I’ve had. Most everyone had their own Airsoft guns, but those who didn’t used Airsoft guns that were donated by HobbyTron.com. Once again thanks to all who went, supported and provided to make Operation “Playin in the Rain” a great success! We all look forward to the next game.

Make sure to watch the unedited footage at YouTube.

The Legend of the Comeback Kid… The M14

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

This is the Legend of the Comeback Kid, the real world M14 and its awesome counterpart, the Airsoft M14 Sniper Rifle from HobbyTron.com. Here is a little history about the M14. Toward the end of the 2nd World War America needed a fully automatic rifle with the range of a sniper rifle, what they got was the M14. All who looked upon and used this weapon were amazed by its reliability and durability in any condition. Sadly its time spent in service was cut short due to the introduction of the M16 series during the Vietnam War. However these days the M14 has come back to serve with the best of the best, including but not restricted to, the US Special Forces units like DELTA and the NAVY S.E.A.L’s. and it still is one of the most reliable rifles in service.

And just like the real world weapon the Airsoft version is one of the best long rifles on the market. The best thing about it is that no matter which maker produces it the M14 Airsoft Sniper Rifle is always a quality choice. I have found that the G&G and the Tokyo Marui, TM for short, are the highest quality in Airsoft guns, however, the UTG M14 is an extremely well put together Airsoft gun. Most can be equipped with a power scope and R.I.S. rails for all those fun things like tactical lights or sighting lasers. It also includes a reinforced rail on the bottom for a bi-pod. They also can come with a hi-cap magazine which holds over 350 rounds. That is more then enough to blow your target away! It comes in different colors like OD Green, Black, and Simulated Wood, which can actually be fitted with a real wood stock. The rest is made of metal including the unique style of gear box.

The actual play of the rifle is smooth and extremely quiet, mainly because the high speed motor is down in the stock where your hand and your arm conceal most of the sound. The 17 inch barrel gives you the accuracy of any sniper rifle and the best part is that it has a fully auto mode so you can deliver an amazing amount of rounds down field. And since it shots out of the box at 270 to 300 FPS with .20 gram BBs you can be assured to hit what ever you shot at.

This weapon is fully upgradeable with power springs gearing and a bigger battery. With a little help it can even fit a large type 12v battery which will give you more power then you will ever need. This is a long rifle so it is a little difficult to maneuver in CQB battles. But who cares because you’ll hit your enemy way before they can get to you or you’ll be able to back your team up with long range suppressive fire if they have to enter into CQB fights. However if you only play CQB skirmishes the M14 comes in a SOCOM version which only has an 11 inch barrel.

The rifle weighs about 9 lbs. and the mags are bigger than most so you are going to want to adjust your kit to make room for the extra mags, and the weight of the gun. It also has a really cool bolt action cocking lever for extra intimidation points! And since it came out in 2005 it has been named gun of the year twice! Overall the Airsoft M14 Sniper Rifle is one of the best that I have come across in my 5 years of playing. The Legend, the only, the M14.

HobbyTron.com Adds G&G High End Rifles to its Product Offering

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Similar to the Classic Army and the Tokyo Marui come these 35 new Guay & Guay (G&G) rifles. If you are new to the high-end Airsoft market, or have been a faithful fan of Classic Army or Tokyo Marui then here is a little information about G&G that you will definitely find worth reading.

G&G Gun

Guay & Guay Airsoft rifles are the closest you can get to a real rifle without spending a fortune. The company makes a serious effort to replicate all rifles with precision, down to the last detail. The appearance, as well as the weight, of a G&G replica will be practically indecipherable from the real thing, and the ammunition taken by each one will match its authentic counterpart. On top of that, these Airsoft rifles are high quality instruments themselves.

While there are several manufacturers of Airsoft rifles and firearms on the market today, Guay & Guay is probably the most reputable and dependable maker of these replicas. Mimicking all manner of guns and rifles in an Airsoft format for safe target practice, gaming, and collection or general fun, G&G builds solid, sturdy imitation weaponry that tends to be preferred by frequent users.

For example, the G&G RK-104 (a replica of the AK-104, a shortened Russian military assault rifle) is built using the same materials for the same parts as the original – that means that where the authentic rifle is made of metal, so is the G&G RK-104, and likewise with plastic parts. This makes the weapon feel real and weigh in as accurately as possible for a replica.

Another excellent factor of the G&G Airsoft rifles is their ability to be customized. Much like real weaponry, there are several accessories that can easily be added onto the stock firearm. Even these pieces are replicated down to the last detail in an effort to please realist fanatics. Because of the careful construction and replication of their products, G&G assures that firing their Airsoft rifles will feel incredibly similar to firing their authentic counterpart. This can’t be said of all manufacturers, some of which opt to stop at similarities in appearance and fail to replicate the “feel” of the actual weaponry.

So the consensus? Get your hands on a G&G Airsoft rifle for a top quality gun that not only looks like the real thing, but feels like one too!

Desert Camo Sniper Rifle

Desert Camo Sniper Rifle

I have had the opportunity to use this gun for a period of time, and I am very impressed. When I first got the UTG Spring Sniper Accushot Airsoft Rifle to use for testing I was amazed at the realistic weight of the gun. The description on our website states that the gun is 6.5lbs and that is definitely true. The only abs plastic on this gun is the stock, the rest of the gun is metal and is very well made.

The gun was simple enough to assemble requiring only 3 screws to secure the barrel to the stock. The gun does not come with any aiming device. Even still without a sight on it, I was able to hit targets at 75 feet repeatedly. I used the .2g rounds in this gun and was amazed with the velocity that this spring powered rifle was able to produce. Using the .12 rounds I was able to get faster velocity but lost the accuracy because of the light weight of the round. Even light breeze caused the BB to move from left to right more than once in the BBs flight path. Using the .2g BB, the breeze did not affect it near as much.

I was also impressed with the bi-pod that came with this gun. It allows for smooth transition from standing to laying with a sturdy platform for aiming the gun. The other great thing this package comes with is the speed loader, and the 3 point sniper sling.

Using the scope below really increased my range and made the whole experience much more enjoyable.

Sniper Scope

I was shooting the above gun pretty accurately until I put on this scope. Once I did that, I was dead accurate. This is the NcStar 3-9×40 Scope, with it I was able to hit targets at 125 feet continually, giving me an extra 50 feet of precise sniping range.

The good thing about this scope is that the cross hairs are able to be sighted in to the gun. This scope could be used with a real fire arm and get great accuracy out of it, so using it with the Airsoft guns even though it is Airsoft and round projectiles that are very hard to predict. The scope has real weapon weight and quality and is definitely a good investment. I would recommend this scope to anyone looking to better their Airsoft experience.

AEG Electric M4 Assault Rifle

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I am always a little hesitant when pulling big guns out of the box to review them. When I realized that this one had a grenade launcher on it, I wasn’t terribly excited. I have always been more of a handgun type of guy.

This gun really surprised me though. It is a full 1/1 scale gun and I wasn’t prepared for how heavy the gun would feel. From the moment I took it outside and started firing I felt right at home. It has an FPS of 300 and was very accurate up to up to about 75’; I was getting 5” groupings at that range. I let it rip at full auto and fired a good 50 rounds very quickly while keeping similar accuracy. When I started getting around 100’ the BBs started to drift down and to the right. I wasn’t able to group them as close at that range, but if I adjusted, and there was no wind, I was able to hit the target.

The grenade launcher was a fun accessory. You don’t have to use it, but it is a nice surprise for the unexpected victim.
It also comes with 2 hand guards, 2 magazines, and tactical 3 point sling, adjustable hop up, replaceable piston, rechargeable battery and charger. This M4 Electric Airsoft Rifle is perfect for customizing and adding all of your favorite accessories to.

All in all I felt that for the price, the gun was one of the best in its class. And one of the better that I have tried out, rifle and handgun alike.

Scott Vectra Airsoft/Paintball Full Goggle Mask

Scott Vectra Full Goggle Mask

Today we are going to be talking about the Scott Vectra Airsoft/Paintball Full Goggle Mask. Out of all the protective eye-wear that I have worn I like this the most. Don’t get me wrong if I want to impress the ladies on a Friday evening, I would choose the Ray-Bans over the Vectra mask. When we have a full scale war, I do enjoy having my face fully protected. With an anti-fog lens this model far exceeds its predecessors and the popular mesh masks. It has 170° field of vision which is great for scanning the surrounding terrain and getting an accurate picture of what is going on without having to move much. It fits over glasses, has a very comfortable non-slip strap, and uses hypo-allergenic foam. Superbly made these goggles will protect you even at close range. Basically this is a classy option that will serve you well for years to come. And at less than $20, there is no better option for your dollar.

The best of both worlds!

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Some people love shooting their automatic electric guns because of how fast they shoot and some people love using spring guns because they don’t have to worry about their battery dying on the field, well why not combine them both? The M4 M203 AEG Assault Rifle does just that, it combines the speed and power of a fully automatic electric gun with the reliability of a spring gun. The spring gun actually comes in the form of a grenade launcher which adds to the cool factor and the gun comes with 2 different styles of adjustable stocks so you can change the look of your gun. It doesn’t get much better then this!

In case you forgot HobbyTron.com is an Airsoft Distributor.
