Mine is shooting around 280fps with .20g bbs, and makes a quarter size grouping at 15 feet. I usually get about 4 mags (approx 60 bbs) of descent fire on one 12 gram c02 cartridge. I would say that the max effective range is about 40 feet, but you really should only have to use this within about 15 (you should be using your primary past this). This is a great gun at a great price, and the blowback is just the icing on the cake. My only complaints are that the mag is a bit wobbly and hardshell holsters are uncommon for the p99.
